Jean Offenberg was a talented Belgian pilot. He had managed to down at least one Luftwaffe plane with his antiquated Fiat CR 42 biplane when Belgium was invaded on the 10th May 1940. After Belgium surrendered he made his way to England via Corsica and Algeria. He was soon accepted into the RAF.
