23rd June 1942: SS officer has a proposal to make use of the 2-3 million Jews who are 'fit for work' out of the 10 million European Jews now condemned to die
Actions against the Jews had accelerated after Hitler had emphasised his desire to see the end of Jewry in Europe in December 1941. Senior members of the SS members now competed with one another to demonstrate their enthusiasm for the task.
