The Operation Torch landings continued in the Vichy French-controlled Morocco and Algeria. The Allies had not had the resources to land further east in Tunisia. They had hoped that, if they quickly established a strong foothold in Algeria, they could push along the coast road and occupy Tunisia as well. It was not to be.
