‘A Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses of the U.S. Eighth Air Force passes over the heart of Berlin as smoke from fires started in the Tempelhof area, blanketing part of the capital, Feb. 3, 1945. This was one of a force of 1,000 planes which unloaded 2,500 tons of bombs on Hitler's key city. Communications and other targets felt the weight of the attack.’
