The bombing of Semlin Judenlager

17th April 1944: The accidental bombing of a concentration camp shows that there can be no easy respite for the Jews

The site of the International Trade Fair and Exhibition Ground at Sajmište in Belgrade had been used by the SS as an extermination centre. Over 90% of Serbian Jews had been murdered in 1941-42, the women and children at this site. Later in the war, it was a notorious concentration camp known as ‘Semlin Judenlager’.
