20th July 1943: A young pilot has a lucky escape in the latest Spitfire

‘Rhubarb’ raids - offensive sweeps over northern France - were conducted by pairs of aircraft. The Spitfire XII had been in service for over a year when this shot was taken on 12 April 1944 of two Friston-based aircraft from No 41 Squadron.
