Secret POW Escape Maps

26th March 1941: A scheme is hatched to provide silks maps to Prisoners of War, concealed in boxes of popular board games

Part of a Silk Map supplied to aircrew. Aircrew who were shot down over Holland had a reasonable chance of finding civilians sympathetic to the Allied cause, who would help them join an ‘escape line’.
