Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, commander of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s Combined Fleet.

In 1940, Isoroku Yamamoto was the admiral commanding the Combined Fleet of the Japanese Imperial Navy. He was highly regarded for his ability and strategic foresight, but not wholly aligned with the aggressive military ambitions of some in the Japanese government.
