A murderous plan to capture secrets

12th September 1940: The future creator of James Bond proposes a dramatic scheme to capture German Codes

A German “M-Boot” or minesweeper of the type that operated in the English Channel. Fleming proposed to pose in a downed Luftwaffe aircraft and then turn on the German sailors who came to rescue them. They would have to kill all the Germans so that it would not be discovered that their codes had been seized. The German boat would mysteriously disappear.
